Felixco: A Designer’s Real-World Type Audit
Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Test in black and white first. Felixco’s warmth reads differently with color. Confirm its voice holds up without chromatic support.
- Check small-size readability. At 10pt on a product label or 14px in an email footer, does the ‘l’ distinguish clearly from the ‘i’? Does the ‘o’ stay round? Print it. Zoom out. Squint.
- Try it on real mockups — not just screens. A Felixco headline looks different on a ceramic mug than on a retina display. Order a physical proof if it’s for packaging or merchandise.
- Compare uppercase vs. lowercase usage. Felixco’s all-caps setting is strong but can feel heavy. Its lowercase flow is where its personality breathes — lean into that for friendlier contexts.
- Review spacing — especially tracking and line height. It prefers slightly more air than default settings. Tighten tracking for logos; loosen it for display quotes.
- Pair it deliberately. Beside a warm serif font (like Literata or Lora), Felixco grounds elegance. Against a geometric sans serif font (like Montserrat), it adds softness. Next to a script font or handwritten font, it provides calm counterpoint — not competition. Avoid pairing it with another high-contrast display font; they’ll duel.
- Confirm licensing before deployment. Felixco is a premium font — ensure your license covers web embedding, app use, and resale if you’re building digital products or templates for others.
